Downtown Yakima will light up Monday night in the colors of the University of Washington after UW supporters won the auction at the Yakima Rotary Club Jubilee auction on Saturday night. Steve Wiese the owner of Yakima’s Leading Force Energy and Design says the long planned lighting of the Larson Building purple and gold is planned for 5:30 p.m. Larry Hull is the owner of the Larson Building and a Rotary Club member himself. “Those colors will be flown up to Apple Cup and it’s shaping up to be a really great Apple Cup.”
The lights will be on the East side of the building. That’s the first phase. The school colors will stay on the building for one week, after that the building will be lit in holiday colors. Eventually Weise says they want to light the entire building.
